Staff Accountant
Full-Time Position
Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, located in Shelton, CT, is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting directly to the Controller, this position supports the organization's financial operations through account reconciliations, revenue recording, financial reporting, audit preparation, and compliance activities.
The Staff Accountant plays an important role in maintaining the fiscal integrity of the agency while supporting programs that serve individuals and families throughout Fairfield County.
Essential Education, Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Experience in nonprofit accounting preferred
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365
- Experience with financial systems and cloud-based applications
- Ability to generate reports and analyze financial data
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Commitment to the mission of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Responsibilities include revenue recording, account reconciliations, deferred revenue management, grant reporting support, tax filings, audit preparation, financial reporting, and other duties that support agency operations.
