Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, Inc., one of the largest private social service providers in Connecticut, is seeking a seasoned, dynamic Executive Director to lead and to carry out the Agency’s mission, vision, values, and service philosophies. Since 1916, Catholic Charities has served all people with programs that feed the hungry and homebound, shelter the homeless, strengthen families, assist the physically and emotionally challenged, and deliver consultation and support to immigrants.

The Executive Director reports to the Catholic Charities Board of Directors and its members acting as a critical resource to the Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport as the Chair of Members. The Executive Director shall be the spiritual leader of the Agency with regard to integrating Catholic tradition and teaching into the work of the Agency.

With an operating budget of $10M, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation, and funding of all programs and services, as well as the administration of the Agency.  This position is accountable for developing fiscally-sound operating practices and procedures within the Agency to assure the delivery of quality services and programs consistent with the mission of the Agency and the policies of the Board.  As the public face and presence of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, the Executive Director acts as the lead person in terms of communications, marketing and public relations within the organization as well as externally.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop operating practices, procedures and communications within the Agency to assure the delivery of quality services and programs.
  • Develop and implement appropriate fiscal and budgetary planning and control practices.
  • Analyze trends, needs and opportunities within the social services arena and recommend possible strategies for growth.
  • Develop and implement procedures and practices which assure maximum revenue and effective utilization of resources.
  • Cultivate a broad-based integration between Catholic Charities and Parish life and Catholic Education.
  • Develop and preserve relationships with foundations, trusts, companies, organizations, and individuals with potential donor or fund-sourcing capabilities. Work in collaboration with the Board of Directors to raise the funds necessary to do the work of CCFC.
  • Represent the Agency in negotiations; develop and maintain relationships with the communities served, other service providers, government grantors as well as private funding sources and professional associations.

Essential  Skills and Competencies

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing within the Diocese of Bridgeport.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree and minimum of ten years of successful senior management experience in organizations of larger or comparable size and structure. Master’s degree and experience in a not-for-profit environment a plus.
  • Strong communications, management and financial skills to effectively manage as a cohesive unit, geographically diverse and separate program service divisions of varying size and complexity.
  • Knowledge of governance and management of non-profit corporations.
  • Experience in implementing effective fund-raising efforts and serve as the face of Catholic Charities to the public of Fairfield County.

Supportive Housing Case Manager

Catholic Charities of Fairfield County is seeking an experienced, motivated individual for a part-time Supportive Housing Case Manager for its Housing Department in Danbury, CT. Qualified candidates will be responsible for implementing CCFC’s strategic mission through the core functions of person-centered client support which will include, but be not limited to: assessment, goal planning, service referral, housing coordination, and advocacy.

Bachelor Degree in Human Services or related field is required.

At least three years of experience in working with chronically homeless individuals is strongly preferred

Candidate must have experience working with individuals having disabilities, extensive criminal histories, substance abuse, or co-occurring disorders.

Candidate should have knowledge of case management services, permanent supportive housing policies and procedures, and federal regulations.

Skills & Requirements:
Advanced communication and problem-solving skills, valid driver’s license and vehicle, proof of current registration and insurance, experience in data management and reporting required.
