Immigration Assistant

The Immigration program of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County seeks a part-time (25 hours/week) Program Assistant for its Bridgeport office. This program, which provides legal consultation and case management services to immigrants and their families, is currently undergoing expansion with potential opportunity for advancement. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure day-to-day operations through scheduling, client intake and initial case priority assessment.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support including mailing, scanning, faxing and copying, collection of services fees, deposits with accounting and recordkeeping for statistical analysis, etc.  Participate in required trainings.
  • Regularly updates client’s activities and services into internal database and collects and provides statistical information as assigned
  • Under guidance of the Accredited Representative, provide technical assistance and case management support to immigrants and their families regarding naturalization, family reunification and adjustment of status matters.
  • Ability to work under pressure and exercise flexibility as needed.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all matters related to the program.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Professional written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Experience or familiarity with delivery of case management services
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Knowledge of general office operations and strong office organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of software programs including word processing, database management, and spreadsheet applications. Willingness to be trained in case management software
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Degree from a 2 or 4-year institution preferred.
  • Familiarity with federal immigration policy and laws
  • Experience working with immigrant communities preferred.

Program Counselor (full-time)

Catholic Charities of Fairfield County seeks a full-time, masters-level professional providing counseling and case management services co-located at two Norwalk-based program sites.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and facilitating parenting workshops and providing parent-child coaching in an early childhood school setting.
  • Providing individual, couple or family counseling and case management services in an outpatient counseling clinic.

Education and Experience:

  • Bi-Lingual English/Spanish conversational proficiency required.
  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work required.
  • Prior experience in a multi-cultural, non-profit service setting preferred .
  • Connecticut licensure preferred.

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT (PART-TIME)

New Covenant Center, located in Stamford CT, and a program of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, is recruiting for a part-time Maintenance Assistant. 

Responsibilities include:  

  • Assisting full time maintenance personnel with day-to-day facility maintenance
  • Ensure site cleanliness, unload food deliveries, operate agency van, and maintaining storage facilities. Flexible work schedule, including weekends.  
  • High school diploma or GED. Clean driving record.

Responsibilities include:  

  • Monitor café during meal services; 
  • Provide protection to guests, staff and volunteers; 
  • Enforce crowd control, defuse potentially volatile situations, and intervene and exit violators when necessary. 

Skills Required: 

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.   
  • Able to work to a flexible, seven-days/week schedule.
