Catholic Charities of Fairfield County received 45,000 pounds of shelf-stable food from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to support food pantries in Stamford and Bridgeport.
At the Thomas Merton Family Center (TMFC), every meal served and every bag of groceries distributed through the food pantry carries a deeper purpose: nourishing not just the body but also the spirit of community. It was in this spirit that a simple question from pantry guests sparked an initiative that would empower them far beyond the kitchen.
Four school buses were filled with donations, which will benefit the Bridgeport Rescue Mission, the Sterling House Community Center and the Thomas Merton Center.
