BRIDGEPORT, CT – Catholic Charities of Fairfield County had a remarkable opportunity on April 25, 2024, as Brian Morris, Director of the HOAST program at Recovery Network of Programs (RNP), graced the new Thomas Merton Family Center as the guest speaker for the April 2024 resident meeting. It was a gathering that promised not just dialogue but tangible steps towards addressing the interconnected challenges of homelessness, mental health, financial crises, and substance abuse.
The stark reality is that homelessness often intertwines with mental health issues, financial instability, and substance abuse. Recognizing this, Aleksander Papaluca, one of Catholic Charities’ housing case managers, leveraged his background as a substance abuse counselor to facilitate a collaboration with Brian Morris. Their goal? To equip not only the housing department but also the individuals grappling with substance abuse with resources and support.
Brian Morris eloquently elaborated on RNP’s comprehensive range of programs tailored to support individuals navigating various forms of addiction. From intensive inpatient and outpatient programs to specialized initiatives for men and women, along with medicated assisted treatment programs, RNP offers a spectrum of services. Moreover, their provision of one-on-one counseling sessions with seasoned addiction counselors ensures personalized support for those in need.
Looking ahead, Aleksander and Brian are committed to furthering this collaboration. Their shared vision involves a continued effort to bridge the gap between homelessness and addiction by disseminating crucial information and linking individuals with invaluable resources.
By joining forces, Catholic Charities of Fairfield County and Recovery Network of Programs are not just addressing immediate needs but fostering a pathway towards sustainable solutions. Together, they stand as beacons of hope, empowering individuals to reclaim their lives and journey towards a brighter future.
