STAMFORD – For many years, the Connecticut Area of the Order of Malta has supported New Covenant Center in many ways. They prepare and serve lunch on the second Saturday of every month. This past Saturday, New Covenant’s Raphael Hilaire outdid himself in creating a fantastically healthy, balanced and bountiful meal.

Two shifts of over a dozen Malta volunteers prepared and served 135 guests, who came inside from the cold, two pieces of chicken, rice, steamed string beans, a mixed salad, two pieces of freshly baked garlic bread, dessert and water. Volunteer John Toner remarked that almost all of the guests thanked him.

With continuing inflation and the cold, the Center is serving over 100 meals for lunch and dinner everyday, and they recently re-started their Breakfast program. Anyone interested in volunteering should contact David Lovegreen at [email protected] or (203) 964-8228, ext. 416
