Hot meals were distributed in Danbury through a collaborative effort by Catholic Charities and two local business owners. About 100 families from local parishes received prepared meals made possible by The Amber Room Colenade, a catering venue on Stacey Road. Owner Douglas Polistena (pictured in the pink shorts) is working hard to keep his staff employed and is accepting donations from local businesses and non-profits to prepare meals, which are then distributed to people struggling due to the pandemic.
“We are thankful to be part of this and grateful to be able to do it,” said Polistena, who worked at The Amber Room for 12 years before becoming the owner in 2018.
“It’s so important to give back.”Meals were picked up by families from the Catholic Charities Morning Glory van parked in St. Peters Church parking lot and Catholic Charities also delivered meals at the Brazilian Community Center on Liberty Street. According the Catholic Charities Executive Director Mike Donoghue, “It’s a win-win all around.”
