The Immigration Services program provides affordable and reliable legal counseling and assistance to immigrants throughout Fairfield County regardless of race, religion, sex, creed or economic status. Catholic Charities Immigration Services program provides consultations on immigration related questions and accredited representation at US Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS) appointments. The Immigration Team is accredited by the Department of Justice, Office of Legal Access Programs (EOIR/OLAP).

- Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA)

⚠️ Immigration Scam Awareness — Identify & Protect Yourself
How to Protect Yourself
- Verify the Source: Legitimate agencies such as Catholic Charities do not solicit clients through social media or text messages.
- Payment Policies: Catholic Charities offices generally do not accept payments through Zelle or Venmo. Fees are handled securely or in person.
- Check Accreditation: Your legal representative must be a licensed attorney or a Department of Justice (DOJ) accredited representative.

Identify — Who Is Allowed to Give Immigration Advice?
- Only a licensed attorney or a DOJ accredited representative working for a recognized organization may give immigration legal advice.
- Attorneys must be members of their state professional association. Always confirm their license is active.
- Accredited representatives are authorized non-lawyers who work for DOJ-recognized organizations.
Verify — Confirm Who You Are Working With
- Some scammers use the names or license numbers of real attorneys.
- Verify employment and contact information through the state professional association website.
- Do not verify information using phone numbers provided by the person you suspect.
- If necessary, search independently online using the person’s name and location.
Be Aware of Common Immigration Scams
- Guaranteed Results: No one can promise fast approval or guaranteed success. Example: “Pay me $5,000 and you’ll definitely win.”
- Pressure to Pay Immediately: Scammers may rush you to send money or use encrypted apps such as WhatsApp or wire transfers.
- Notario Fraud: In the United States, notaries are NOT allowed to provide immigration legal advice.
