COVID-19 hit seniors hard. Thanks to your support, Meals on Wheels continues to deliver healthy meals, human connection and a watchful eye for millions who are vulnerable at a time when they need it most.
Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, Inc. has sponsored the Senior Nutrition Program for more than 37 years serving over 400 elderly individuals on a daily basis. We provide nutritious meals, through home delivery and at Senior Community Café sites, to low-income individuals, 60 years and older. There is a suggested donation to help cover the meal costs.
The Meals On Wheels program satisfies the nutritional needs of the homebound elderly and disabled by providing a well balanced meal and a safety check. A variety of therapeutic menu options are offered to help promote and maintain good health. Deliveries are made Monday – Friday and weekend meals may be provided. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for this particular service exploded as the elderly became part of the population that was required to quarantine for their own safety. Our team rose to the occasion and met the response of this demand.
According to Antoinette, Meals on Wheels is a vital service to meet her needs -“Meals on Wheels through Catholic Charities has fresh food, variety of menu. I get lunch delivered M-F. My daughter cares for me daily and could not feed me as well as they do. Very impressed and feeling grateful for the help.”

James started out as a congregate program recipient, then became the President of the Senior Nutrition Program Advisory Council for numerous terms. He has utilized a consortium of our services over the years and currently is Home Delivered meal recipient. Here is his story.
“I am an 83 year old male who is currently home-bound and 100% disabled . Without Senior Nutrition Program and home care I could not manage. My doctors do not want me near a stove! The Senior Nutrition meals are well balanced and I am not able to count calories. I could not manage without Catholic Charities Senior Nutrition Program. The program delivers the meals in all kind of weather, snow, sleet, rain or hail. God Bless the Senior Nutrition Program.”
