The Growing for Good Garden at Our Lady of Fatima, in partnership with Catholic Charities, is set to donate 750 pounds of fresh produce to the Thomas Merton Family Center food pantry this summer. This initiative marks a significant contribution to the local community, ensuring that families in need have access to fresh and nutritious food.

Nick Martinez, who runs the Thomas Merton Family Center’s food pantry, expressed his gratitude for this generous donation: “This donation of fresh produce is a tremendous help to the families we serve. It allows us to provide nutritious options and promote healthy eating in our community.”

The impact of this initiative goes beyond the mere provision of food. Garden beds have also been planted at the Thomas Merton Family Center, creating opportunities for clients, staff, and volunteers to engage in the rewarding experience of harvesting vegetables. This not only supplies additional fresh produce but also fosters a sense of empowerment and community among those involved.

The Growing for Good Garden and the Thomas Merton Family Center are both committed to building a healthier, more resilient community through these collaborative efforts.
