Catholic Charities of Fairfield County’s team members joined together on October 20th, 2022 to show support and raise awareness for Domestic Violence Awareness by participating in “Purple Thursday.”

Purple Thursday is a national day of action each October during Domestic Violence Awareness Month. It is an opportunity to raise awareness about domestic violence and an easy way for people to show their commitment to promoting healthy relationships.

Domestic violence is a pattern of coercive, controlling behavior that can include physical abuse, emotional or psychological abuse, sexual abuse or financial abuse. It is a pervasive, life-threatening crime that affects thousands of individuals in Connecticut regardless of age, gender, economic status, race, ethnicity, religion, or education. Victims are left feeling scared, confused, dependent and insecure about their ability to survive on their own, financially or otherwise.

Catholic Charities of Fairfield County’s Victims of Crime Act Program advocates for and supports all victims of crime. If you, or someone you know, is is need of support, please contact Sarah Meyerdierks at [email protected] or (475) 228-7257.
