Program Updates

We’ve had a busy first quarter in 2021!

Mental Health

  • Offering more remote psychotherapy sessions

  • Now offering group therapy in both the Danbury and Norwalk offices

  • Hired a bi-lingual counselor to serve our clients

Room to Grow Preschool

  • Operating a Food Pantry to feed Room to Grow families
  • Opened a Family Resource Center with a Counselor on site

Family Directions Adoption Program

Assisted in the recent placement of an infant.  Welcome home, Elijah!

New Covenant Center

  • Just passed the one-year mark providing daily lunch and dinner 7 days a week on a grab-and-go basis
  • Serving meals to clients of other local non-profit programs
  • Distribute 500+ meals per day, versus 175 at this time last year
  • Provided winter gear such as new underwear and socks, hats, gloves, scarves, hand-warmers and ponchos

Immigration

  • Expanded services to a new office in Norwalk
  • Staffed for expected spike in cases due to changes inimmigration laws

New Heights

  • Day program for clients suffering mental illness
  • Introduced several new groups including a guided morning prayer group and practicing assertiveness
  • Creating a calendar to offer hybrid services in May

Thomas Merton Center

  • Collaborating with St. Vincent’s to host a Medical Mission on June 5th
  • Health screenings and medication screening referrals for mental health/addiction treatment
  • Preparing for guests to reenter the building in early June
  • Collaborating with University of Bridgeport to provide food for students in need

VOCA

  • Provides critical case management to victims of crimes
  • Offered staff and client informational seminars on resources related to victimization and healing

Family Loan Program

  • Family Loan expanded to Stamford/Norwalk
  • Offering loans to low income working families at 5.5%

Community Support Program

  • CSP provides case management to the chronically mentally ill
  • Offering group sessions and classes virtually to clients
  • Offering individual face-to-face work in the community for cases that need direct contact services

Homeless Outreach

  • Completed State audit receiving high marks in outreach, staffing, and service standards

Morning Glory Breakfast Program

  • Serving homeless clients currently living at the Super 8 Motel
  • Also serving grab and go breakfast at Dorothy Day. House Monday thru Friday

Housing

  • Case managers support formerly homeless clients as they move towards self-sufficiency, linking them with community resources
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to address challenges and meet short and long-term housing goals

Senior Nutrition

  • Senior Nutrition Congregate sites expected to re-open soon
  • Meals on Wheels accepting referrals for homebound elderly in need of meals
  • New clients up 30%!

Bethlehem House

  • Renovation of multifamily home in Stratford nearly complete
  • Expect 3 formerly homeless families to move in during April!
