When the COVID-19 Pandemic began, The Thomas Merton Center knew they could no longer feed our guests inside the building, for the health of guests, volunteers and staff.
They were prepared to switch to take-out meals and continue sharing meals with guests without missing a beat. But as the winter drew nearer, they needed a solution to provide an alternative to day shelter that would prioritize the warmth, safety and dignity of our guests.
Therefore, Project Warm was launched in December of 2020. Take a look inside the Project Warm shed and Blue House where TMC provided breakfast, lunch, coffee, tea, winter coats, gloves, hats, and other warm winter essentials.
