New Heights

Danbury (Greater Danbury)

New Heights is a wellness and recovery center for adults with mental illness.  We offer support in every aspect of emotional and physical wellness and provide opportunities for people to connect with each other. We use a strengths based, recovery oriented approach that fuses cultural competency and trauma sensitivity. Our members are our driving force behind all of our programming and often assist with classes and groups.

  • Our DMHAS funded, holistic programming includes classes such as Food and Nutrition, Positive Thinking, Mindfulness, and Walking.
  • A healthy lunch is offered most weekdays.
  • Our facility has computers available where people can enhance their personal skills, job search, create resumes, or access social media.
  • From on site gatherings to outside excursions,  we promote community activities that enrich our members’ lives.

Giving Tuesday: “It’s About Connections”

Giving Tuesday: “It’s About Connections”

Mental health and a sense of wellbeing are all about connections, says Richard Madwid, MS, LPC, LADC, CCS, director of Behavioral Health Services for Catholic Charities of Fairfield County.

He says the COVID-19 crisis has disrupted connections between friends, family and the larger community. As a result, over the past two years Catholic Charities has seen a dramatic increase in requests for counseling and mental health services for conditions ranging from anxiety and depression to domestic violence and substance abuse.
