Stamford, CT: On Friday, May 8th, New Covenant Center will hold its 16th Annual Celebrity Breakfast at The Italian Center in Stamford from 7 to 9 am. The Celebrity Breakfast will feature guest speakers Bishop Frank J. Caggiano of the Diocese of Bridgeport and Rabbi Jay TelRav of Temple Sinai in Stamford. The event is being co-chaired by New Covenant Center Advisory Board Member Nils Dahl of Southport and Sarita Hanley of Stamford.
The Most Reverend Frank J. Caggiano was installed as Fifth Bishop of Bridgeport on Thursday, September 19, 2013 at St. Theresa Church in Trumbull, CT. Bishop Caggiano came to Bridgeport from the Diocese of Brooklyn, where on June 6, 2006, he was named Auxiliary Bishop of Brooklyn and Titular Bishop of Inis Cathaig by Pope Benedict XVI. He presently serves on four committees of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB): Committee on Evangelization and Catechesis; Subcommittee on the Catechism; Orthodox Union Catholic Dialogue; Committee on Laity, Marriage, Family Life and Youth.
Rabbi Jay TelRav is a native of Michigan. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan in 1998 before studying at Hebrew Union College and the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Rabbi TelRav has spent years developing a rabbinate based on sacred relationship and brings the same focus and approach to Temple Sinai. He has created meaningful relationships with other congregations in the area and has been a vocal partner in the Interfaith Clergy Alliance of Stamford and is currently serving as president of the Stamford Board of Rabbis. He lives in Stamford with his wife, Julie, and two children, Amitai and Nili.

The mission of New Covenant Center is to provide a nutritious meal to all those who are hungry. This is accomplished from their 8,000 sq. ft. facility located at 174 Richmond Hill in Stamford. The facility includes an efficient and modern kitchen, a welcoming dining area, expanded food storage area and refrigeration, a spacious food pantry area and additional space for other services. Stamford’s one and only soup kitchen serves over 600,000 each year, providing meals twice a day, 365 days a year in its Café. An additional 100,000 meals are served from the Food Pantry, providing disadvantaged families with groceries, meat, vegetables and produce.
Founded 41 years ago, New Covenant Center is an inter-faith project of Catholic Charities of Fairfield County, serving the homeless, elderly, disabled, working poor, and children. No one is turned away. There are no requirements to enter the New Covenant Center doors, except a mutual exchange of respect and dignity.
